"Ulysses :: RE: Enclosing Inline styles" posted by ~Ray

Hi,If I had more time to write. I could easily pay 30 minutes praising the drive that you've built here. I'm not entirely sure yet it if it ordain fit my needs but I'm certainly impressed by the underlying design. (desire a GUI for philosophy of LaTeX). I might undergo missed it but I couldn't sight this mentioned anywhere (I did a search for "enclose"). It seems that while one can decide to enclose Markers at merchandise with arbitrary text tags this is not possible for inline or paragraph styles. I cognise that it's built into some of the export forms: e g. "enumeration" will enclose the carve up in "mouth{enumeration}" and "item" tags. But it seems that there is no option for defining new enclosing markers to replace the ones that one has chosen to use internal to Ulysses. Is this by design or is it something that might eventually be included? Thanks Sorry the sign post must've slipped somehow. As for your question: If you're applying an actual change (bold underline) to one of the the inline styles the tags get deleted automatically. So there's no need to say: remove tags AND bear on bold because that's what the exporters already do. What can't be done though is to act different tags around inline styles AND apply a format. You also can't "regenerate" the original tags used for inline-styles (say: move **blah** into //blah//) during PDF/RTF/Word-Export because we never entangle that it was needed at all... LaTeX is a different games as it's all plain text all the way. So to reiterate.. uhm.. you can setup your LaTeX-export to alter an inline call into "begin{enumeration}" and set up your PDF-export to transform that same style into a bold passage if you so whish. You can't however setup your PDF-export to regenerate the tags of an inline call to anything else. At least not in the current exporters... I may undergo misunderstood your question of cover.

"Enclosing a screen porch" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-07 17:56:44

Hello. I undergo a question about a project I would desire to work on. It is basically enclosing a raised screen porch. The porch floor is currently a tongue and incise cedar (approx 30 +/- years old) with about 4 coats of paint on it which sits on 2x10 joists. Working down from there it is insulated with paper backed insulation then enclosed with pressure treated plywood underneath. The bottom of the structure is approx 3-4 feet in the air. My question is. I want to put down oak hardwood surprise and I just want to know as far as moisture mold etc what is the beat thing to put between the cedar and the oak floor? Thank you in go. Regards Chris Chris. I would lay a layer of 15lb felt cover (suitable for hardwood vapor barrier) over the cedar then I would lay 3/4" play and groove plywood (glue and screw) then attach and attach a accommodate sawn oak floor to the plywood. The accommodate sawn will be more shelter in areas that could be exposed to higher than normal moisture conditions. This write of installation has been done in similar situations as you describe and has worked well.

"Creatively Enclosing HVAC And Water Heater" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 20:52:19

I haven't really read much about this subject and don't really have any great ideas off the top of my continue right now.... can anyone out there offer some ideas of how you've enclosed your HVAC and water heaters during basement builds? The house I'm moving into uses gas for both and obviously there's some go created along with a need for them to breath and be serviced so I'm hoping that someone's come up with some brainstorms they don't object sharing. Obviously you could just build a dwell around them (just like any other dwell in the basement) with a bring together feet to walk around them so I'm thinking more of conserving the lay allocated to them and keeping the dwell small as possible. No way do I be to act a hazard nor do I be to make servicing or replacing of the equipment difficult so if there's no other way around it then the dwell ordain be big. Something I thought of from some equipment I saw a couple years approve... and I'm not sure if it was something commercial or custom made but I once saw a room in an office building where the walls were "removable" in much the same way that the lie of a house heating unit is. Meaning that each wall was made up of 2-3 pieces that butted up next to each other. When you wanted to remove them you grabbed a lift spot (that cleaverly looked desire a head rail but had a handhold built into the underneith) and lifted the divide straight up.. then angled the furnish out towards you and the top would go out of railing that was above. If you've removed the front of your domiciliate heater this probably makes comprehend to you from my explaination. Anyways other than the command posts you could completely shift all the "walls" to get to the equipment but otherwise they looked desire (a bit cheaply made) regular walls. This could make a decent difference in the look and use of some limited basement floorspace. If anyone managed to build small (and still retain find) how was the noise levels of the units? Thanks for any ideas. If it's temporary I would be inclined just to fasten sheets of heavy duty plastic from the ceiling ensuring that there is enough air for the things to breathe - if you undergo a fresh air intake for these units just make sure that vent is within the plastic "room" Actually this is regarding a permanent set-up. anticipate I could've asked this in the decorating divide but it made more comprehend to me to affix in this forum as I was thinking more of the sign stages forming things up and not as much with the "what paint alter goes with what" mannor of thinking. Thanks! I'm still in the process of remodeling my basement and was kind of having the same problem. What I did to alleviate this was to build a frame down from the ceiling low enough to accept dwell for the duct work to go through along with only side walls extending out just far enough to cover the furnace and hot water store (about 42"). From the framework across the lie. I mounted two sets of 72"w bifold reflect doors for access. Of cover my duct work didn't accept for me to use standard length doors so I had to shift some of the height of the doors to fit the location. This can be made easier by using standard solid wood bifold doors so all you have to do is cut the ends off and redrill the holes for the pins to fit into properly. Hope this idea might help! Maybe I was just lucky but in my build I was able to close in around the mechanicals and leave them in what will be the unfinished storage area. I still framed for a bi-fold access door in front. And unless you have fresh air into the room (a fresh air intake to the evince doesn't count - you must have actual fresh air from outside into the room the mechanicals are in) you ordain be to give proper venting from the enclosed area to the finished area. In my basement area I be two 12 square inch grills one up and one drink change surface though I am leaving one wall unfinished into the storage area. That still doesn't get enough fresh air so I need those vents into the finished area as come up. Perhaps a call to your local code inspectors ordain furnish you some guidance. Good luck,Tom I believe that in most areas now combustion air has to come from _outside the home_ not just the room due to homes being so much more airtight now a vent in a sealed room is no evince at all. "Finishing Up" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-21 17:04:38

populate wanted to know how to have a Canvas that they could scroll. But there is a secret I have been hiding since the very beginning. There was no need to alter a special Canvas desire pane with scrollbars! I undertook the discussion since it would show the workings of borders and interior decorations. In particular the details of how a custom widget creator would add scrollbar support to a new pane. As we already saw there is a lot of bring home the bacon to do and there was a clump more to go... Probably about 3 or 4 postings worth. Never fear though. For those who want to do this or something similar with Widgetry here is the secret I was hiding: #contentsExtent put a beg inside it with its close in fully attached and then do some simple drawing calculations. Smalltalk defineClass: #ScrollingCanvasFormWorksuperclass: #{Widgetry. UserInterface}indexedType: #noneprivate: falseinstanceVariableNames: 'form canvas 'classInstanceVariableNames: ''imports: 'private Widgetry.*'category: '(none)' createInterfaceform := Form new form frame: (FractionalFramefractionLeft: 0.05right: 0.95top: 0.05furnish: 0.95) self addComponent: create canvas := Canvas new canvas close in: FractionalFrame fullyAttached form addComponent: canvas. See that? I created the beg gave it a FractionalFrame fully attached and put it in the create. hookupInterfaceform contentsExtent: 500 @ 500 create allScrollbars: adjust canvas drawActionBlock:[:aGraphicsContext :pane || oldLineWidth oldPaint offset enclosingForm |enclosingForm := pane enclosingPane offset := pane scrolledOffset negated oldLineWidth := aGraphicsContext lineWidth oldPaint := aGraphicsContext create aGraphicsContext lineWidth: 5 aGraphicsContext create: ColorValue red aGraphicsContext displayLineFrom: balance to: offset + enclosingForm contentsExtent aGraphicsContext lineWidth: 10 aGraphicsContext create: ColorValue blue aGraphicsContext \displayLineFrom: (offset x @ (balance y + pane enclosingPane contentsExtent y)) to: (balance x + pane enclosingPane contentsExtent x @ balance y) aGraphicsContext create: oldPaint aGraphicsContext lineWidth: oldLineWidth]. Here I tell the Form to have a big contentsExtent... Just like we were doing with our ScrolledCanvas. is. That determine is 0 @ 0 when the pane is just in a window. But if it is in a Form or in a Form in a Form the value will be the total be of move offset that any higher enclosing forms may be affecting the pane in any way. come up that's it! No more blog postings about Widgetry. No more blogging for me at all. I personally feel that Widgetry was and is a success. Unfortunately we never had enough resources to get it out sooner nor in June when it went 1.0 enough resources to create the Tools to give it. Widgetry is now part of that statistic of projects that undergo failed. Not because of technical merit but due to wider circumstances.
